Jet2 flight bound for the Canary Islands makes an emergency landing after onboard malfunction

This morning, a Jet2 flight bound for Fuerteventura made an emergency landing following an onboard malfunction. The incident occurred shortly after the aircraft took off from Leeds Bradford Airport, prompting it to divert to East Midlands Airport.

Following standard procedure, the airline arranged for the transfer of passengers to a reserve aircraft to continue their journey, emphasising passenger safety and minimal disruption to travel plans. Simon Hinchley, Operations Director at East Midlands Airport, confirmed that the emergency landing was carried out in accordance with established safety procedures.

This incident follows a previous emergency situation in February, involving a Jet2 flight from Tenerife to Birmingham, which had to land at Faro Airport in Portugal, due to smoke detected in the cabin.

Jet2 has assured that passengers affected by the latest incident were accommodated on a new flight to Tenerife, underlining the airline's commitment to passenger safety and service.
