A tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Arona, in the south of Tenerife, resulting in the death of a 52-year-old motorcyclist following a collision with a car, according to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The accident took place on the TF-51, the main access road to Teide National Park from Arona, as the motorcyclist was passing through the municipality.
Emergency personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) were dispatched to the location given, where they found the man in cardiac arrest. Advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) measures were administered, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful in reviving him, and his death was subsequently confirmed.
Local Police officers arrived at the scene to manage traffic flow, while Guardia Civil agents conducted the necessary investigations into the incident. The accident has once again raised concerns about road safety on Tenerife’s busy thoroughfares.
In the aftermath of the accident, Fasnia has increased its signature campaign to advocate for the establishment of a regional ambulance service. The organisation argues that improved emergency medical services are crucial for timely responses in such accidents, to prevent future fatalities through improved healthcare infrastructure.

Fasnia's initiative seeks to gather widespread community support to secure funding and approval for a regional ambulance. The campaign highlights the critical need for rapid medical intervention in emergencies, emphasizing that a dedicated ambulance service could significantly reduce response times and improve survival rates in this type of incident.
