A flight on its way to Fuerteventura from Paris declared an in-flight emergency today, Friday, after the Transavia crew reported a possible presence of smoke in the cabin, according to Air Traffic Controllers, who released the information via their official X account.
The crew notified Enaire’s Canary Islands Control Centre, triggering the established air-safety protocol to give the aircraft absolute priority during its approach and landing.
Air traffic controllers implemented several operational measures to facilitate the emergency landing. These included briefly delaying selected departures, shortening the approach path of the affected flight, and removing other aircraft from the landing sequence.
Another plane was instructed to perform a go-around to clear the runway, while all remaining traffic was placed in holding areas.
The aircraft landed safely and without further incident at Fuerteventura Airport, where passengers disembarked and airport emergency teams inspected it immediately upon arrival. Once the situation was assessed and no additional risk identified, controllers began restoring normal traffic flow.
Air Traffic Controllers highlighted the effective coordination between the flight crew, control personnel, and emergency services, noting that such procedures ensure rapid and safe resolution of critical events while minimising disruption to other operations.
