Emergency landing for Ryanair flight from the Canary Islands to Manchester

A Ryanair flight from the Canary Islands to the UK had to be urgently diverted yesterday Thursday due to a passenger experiencing medical issues on board.

Air Traffic Control (ATC) reported that the crew of Ryanair flight number FR2132 from Lanzarote to Manchester informed controllers of the situation, and requested an emergency landing with medical personnel waiting for them so that the passenger could receive urgent treatment.

ATC immediately diverted the plane to the closest airport, which was at Santiago de Compostela in the north of Spain, and cleared the approach so that they had priority to land as quickly as possible on runway 17.

They also coordinated with the emergency services on the ground, and when the plane landed safely, medics boarded the aircraft and stabilised the passenger, before taking them off the plane and to a local hospital for further treatment.
