In a shocking display of reckless driving, a 26-year-old man is under investigation after three young women were seen sitting on the windows of a moving car while taking selfies in Lanzarote. The incident took place on the road from La Santa to Yaiza, and was captured on video, which later surfaced on social media.
The Guardia Civil has confirmed that the driver is being investigated for dangerous driving, while the three passengers have been reported for failing to wear seat belts and for sitting on the car windows, which is a violation of traffic safety regulations.
The authorities became aware of the incident on August 31st after the video was posted online. Following an investigation by the Traffic Department of Arrecife, the vehicle and its driver were located near the town of Nazaret.
According to the police press release, the three passengers were taking selfies and photos of the surroundings while dangerously sitting out of the car windows. The case has been handed over to the Arrecife Magistrate’s Court No. 2, and the fines have been sent to the Provincial Traffic Department in Las Palmas.
