The emergency services were called out last night (Sunday) after a car crashed into a wall in Playa Blanca. The driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the wall, leaving the car wedged in place.
Local Police officers and firefighters attended the location given after being alerted by CECOES 1-1-2. Fire crews worked to release the car before disconnecting the battery and clearing the road to ensure safety for other drivers.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the crash, and the driver was able to leave the vehicle unaided. The emergency services have confirmed that the incident caused only material damage, and police have not released any further information about the cause of the crash.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the south of Lanzarote. Earlier this year, a vehicle crashed into the entrance wall of a residential complex in Playa Blanca, causing damage but fortunately no injuries. Similar accidents have also been recorded in Arrecife, where drivers have lost control and collided with shopfronts and building façades.
Across the Canary Islands, the emergency services frequently respond to vehicles crashing into walls or buildings, often due to excessive speed, driver distraction, or misjudging tight bends in tourist towns.
While many of these incidents result only in superficial damage, authorities continue to stress the importance of caution on these roads where pedestrians, parked cars, and narrow streets can quickly turn a small mistake into a serious accident.
