Adeje Town Hall to begin major roadworks in Torviscas on 15th January

Adeje Town Hall have announced that they are starting improvement and renovation works on Avenida España and Avenida Ernesto Sarti, the main road through Torviscas, from 15th January.

This comprehensive project includes replacing cobblestones with asphalt, improving drainage systems, renovating pavements and gardens, and installing underground waste containers.

The works, spanning 960 linear metres, will last for three months with a municipal investment of around €400,000.

During the first phase, which will last two weeks, cobblestones will be removed, and an initial layer of asphalt will be applied. During this time, the through roads will be closed to traffic from 8am to 5pm, reopening outside these hours.

To minimise disruption, the work will proceed in sections, allowing access to adjacent areas via Calle Valencia, Calle Antonio Navarro, and Avenida Ernesto Sarti. Traffic closures will be limited to these first two weeks during the specified hours; in subsequent phases, vehicles will have normal access. The final layer of asphalt will be laid at night during the last phase of the project.

This announcement was made earlier today, Tuesday 7th January, during a meeting held at the Hovima Costa Adeje Hotel, chaired by the tourism councillor Patricia Paulsen Fölling.

Attendees included representatives from hotels, businesses, the taxi cooperative, municipal technical staff, the municipal architect, Román García Higuera, and representatives from the contractor, Construcciones Elfidio Pérez. The project has been initiated by the Adeje Department of Municipal Works and Services, under Councillor Epifanio Díaz Hernández.

The councillor highlighted the importance of these renovations for Costa Adeje. “We understand that such works can cause inconvenience for residents, tourists, and businesses in the area. The Town Hall is doing everything possible to minimise these disruptions, and we can assure you that the results will be worth it. Upgrading our infrastructure is essential to maintain Costa Adeje's reputation as a premier tourist destination,” said Councillor Paulsen Fölling.

The works include replacing the current cobblestone pavement with 12cm thick hot asphalt, ensuring greater durability and reducing road noise. Pavements will be repaired, and tactile paving will be installed to assist visually impaired individuals.

The drainage system will also be improved, with upgrades in critical areas to manage rainwater more efficiently. Underground utilities will be updated to ensure long-term functionality.

For safety, new horizontal and vertical signage will be installed to enhance visibility and accessibility. Pedestrian crossings will be adapted for individuals with reduced mobility, reinforcing road safety.

Throughout the project, a waste management system will be implemented in compliance with environmental regulations, and construction materials will be selected for their low environmental impact.

This project includes a two-year guarantee period following its completion and is designed to revitalise two of Costa Adeje’s main thoroughfares, improving urban experiences and environmental sustainability.
