AEMET issues a yellow weather warning for Tenerife this Tuesday

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow weather warning affecting, initially, only the island of Tenerife. This warning came into effect at 3:00am this morning, Tuesday 30th April, and will last until 10:00pm tonight, although an extension is not ruled out.

The warning is for strong waves and adverse sea conditions, which will affect the eastern, southern, and western coasts of the island. According to the forecast, northeast winds of 50 to 61 km/h (Force 7) are expected offshore in the southeast of Tenerife during the morning.

The Aemet forecast for this Tuesday in the Canary Islands is as follows:

LANZAROTE:

Expect cloudy intervals throughout the day, with skies slightly clearing in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain relatively stable, with the northeast wind occasionally picking up strength.
Temperatures: High of 22°C and low of 17°C.

FUERTEVENTURA:

Similar to Lanzarote, Fuerteventura will experience cloudy intervals with little temperature variation. The northeast wind may occasionally strengthen, adding a briskness to the air.
Temperatures: High of 23°C and low of 17°C.

GRAN CANARIA:

In Gran Canaria, the northern parts of the island will see predominantly cloudy skies, with the possibility of light rain during the morning. Clearings are anticipated along the coasts later in the day. Elsewhere on the island, expect a mix of clear skies and intervals of clouds, with temperatures remaining stable or slightly rising along the southwest coasts. The northeast wind will be stronger in certain areas, especially on southeast and northwest slopes, while breezes will prevail along the southwest coast.
Temperatures: High of 23°C and low of 17°C.

TENERIFE:

Tenerife will experience cloudy intervals, with more pronounced cloud cover in the north and west, and clearer skies in the southeast. Occasional weak rains are possible in the north, particularly in the midlands of the northeast. Temperatures will see a slight rise in the summit areas, while remaining relatively stable elsewhere. The northeast wind will be stronger on the southeastern slope and extreme northwest, with breezes dominating the west coast. In central summit areas, the north wind will gradually decrease as the day progresses.
Temperatures: High of 24°C and low of 18°C.
