31-year-old man arrested in connection with shooting in Playa Honda
The Guardia Civil arrested a 31-year-old man in the south of Lanzarote yesterday (Monday), in connection with a shooting in Playa Honda in the early hours of January 14th.
According to information obtained by Canarias7, the man voluntarily handed himself into the Guardia Civil shortly before his arrest was carried out, confessing to his involvement. Official details about the incident and the suspect have not been disclosed at this time.
Regarding the incident in question, a man in his early thirties was seriously injured during the early morning shooting in Playa Honda, and was subsequently taken to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for urgent treatment. The emergency services have confirmed that the man is alive and expected to make a full recovery.
The shooting took place at around 2:00am on Sunday, January 14th, on Calle Cordel in Playa Honda. The Guardia Civil opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with a particular focus on tracing the origin of the firearm used and the cause of the incident.
The suspect is now in police custody where he will face questioning.
