A new front is bringing rain and strong winds to the Canary Islands
A new front is moving across the atlantic which will affect the Canary Islands over the next few days. According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), it will bring winds up to 80km/h and some strong rain at altitude.
AEMET shared pictures of the weather front on its Twitter account, including the one above, and have activated a yellow weather warning due to gusts of wind exceeding 80 km/h, especially in inland oriented to the west and southwest of the islands, on northwest and southeast slopes, and on peaks at the end of the day.
Today will have a predominantly cloudy skies in the north of the islands of greater relief, and only light cloud in other areas, with some cloudy intervals in the eastern islands , i.e Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, during the afternoon.
Rains are forecast on the northern slopes of the more mountainous islands, i.e. Tenerife and La Palma, with some light showers in La Gomera, El Hierro, and possibly Gran Canaria this afternoon, but with a low probability in Lanzarote and the northern half of Fuerteventura for the rest of today.
