Huge boost for Canaries mass vaccination plan
The medical services of 150 private companies and 50 mutuas in the Canary Islands will be involved in the vaccination plan against Covid, after an agreement was signed yesterday between the regional government and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), under the Plan Sumamos Salud + Economía, promoted by the CEOE Foundation to support the autonomous communities in the containment and fight against Covid-19.
The Canary Islands is on target to give a boost to mass vaccination as of April, coinciding with Brussels' expectations of receiving some 300 million doses of the vaccines during the second quarter, the majority of which are from Pfizer.
The Canarian Government is forecasting that the allocation for the Canary Islands will be enough to give more than 800,000 residents both doses, which alongside current progress will give more than 50% of the target population by the end of June.
The Ministry Of Health claims that this will keep the islands on track to have 70% of the target population vaccinated during summer as this agreement will enable them to vaccinate more than 25,000 people daily, as long as the supply of the vaccines arrive as planned.
The Health + Economy Plan has been promoted by the CEOE Foundation, in collaboration with territorial organizations and companies to reinforce the actions of public administrations against Covid-19, with a focus on health, job maintenance and in helping the most disadvantaged. The purpose will be to reinforce and amplify the actions of the Ministry of Health with the tools and means available to companies, with a special focus on the most disadvantaged groups.
