Covid update: Second day with more than 200 cases, and Tenerife more than 100

The Ministry of Health has notified that a total of 221 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in the Canary Islands in the last 24 hours. In addition, one more person an 85 year old man in Gran Canaria, has lost their life due to the virus in the archipelago, so that the islands have now recorded 618 deaths in total since the pandemic began.

For the second day running daily cases are above 200, and for the second day running Tenerife is the highest with over 100 new cases, registering 112 new positives today. Gran Canaria follows with 76 new infections and has seen active cases drop below 2,000, and Fuerteventura has 23 new cases and Lanzarote 11.

In the western islands, in addition to Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro have not added any new infections in the last 24, while La Gomera, had its statistics adjusted with one less case than previously thought.
