Covid update: One death in Tenerife and 62 new cases for the Canary Islands today

The Canary Islands has added 62 new cases of coronavirus today, bringing the accumulated number of cases to 95,564 since the pandemic began, and the death of a 77-year-old man in Tenerife, who suffered from previous pathologies and was already admitted to hospital.

According to the Ministry of Health data, there are currently 902 active cases, of which 28 are admitted to ICU and 94 are hospitalized, with 780 people in home isolation.

The Accumulated Incidence rate over 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 18.47 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and over 14 days at 45.82 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, Tenerife adds 39 new cases, 45,704 people on the island have now had the virus and 418 are still active; Gran Canaria has added 17 new cases and has had 36,445 accumulated cases, with 224 active.

Meanwhile, Lanzarote registers four new cases with 89 active; Fuerteventura has 1 new case and 158 active ones. El Hierro has 1 new case today and La Palma and La Gomera haven’t added any.
