British tourists are allowed into Spain from Monday

Spain has officially added the UK to its list of countries outside of the EU that are allowed to enter the country, including the Canary Islands, for non-essential reasons including holidays.

This has been officially published in the Boletin Oficial de Espana this morning, number BOE-A-2021-8449, and comes into effect from 00.00h (midnight) on May 24th, which is Sunday night/Monday morning.

Travellers will still need a PCR test and locator form to enter the country, and abide by UK rules when returning home, which is still ‘amber’ conditions of 10 day quarantine and two PCR tests, but it is hoped that this will change for the Canary Islands on June 7th.

The list of third countries whose residents are not affected by the temporary restriction of non-essential trips to the EU through the external borders is as follows:

- Australia.

- Israel.

- Japan.

- New Zealand.

- Rwanda.

- Singapore.

- South Korea.

- Thailand.

- United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

- China.
