Another heatwave from the Sahara will hit the Canary Islands on Sunday

According to meteorologists, another heatwave is expected to hit the Canary Islands from the east on Sunday, when a Saharan advection will enter the archipelago bringing hot air, haze, and consequently, higher temperatures.

It is only is expected to last for two or three days with highs that could exceed 35 degrees, and Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will feel it first, before it covers Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

Before then the weather will remain much as it has been this, with some cloud, some sun, the same temperature, but extremely ‘muggy’ conditions according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET)

The arrival of the heat will also see an increase in winds from the east with gusts of 30 kilometres per hour on the island of Fuerteventura. A weather warning for temperatures and a forest fire warning are expected to be activated at some point over the weekend.
