Young British woman involved in Playa Blanca Accidents unable to testify due to anxiety

The young English woman responsible for the tragic accident in Playa Blanca that killed a 5-month-old baby, Olivia Brown, has been unable to testify in court today due to her state of anxiety and anguish, as reported by the Guardia Civil.

Brown, a 23-year-old British resident of Lanzarote, has reportedly been in a total state of shock since the moment of the accident, and fears for her safety. Upon being taken to court earlier today, the coroner at Investigative Court number 1 in Arrecife ruled that she was not fit to provide a statement, and an attempt will be made again in the near future.

Brown has been provisionally released even though she is facing charges of reckless homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as per Article 379.2 of the Criminal Code. The decision for provisional release is in line with the prosecutor's office, which did not seek preventive detention.

As a precautionary measure, Brown’s passport has been confiscated as she is prohibited from leaving the national territory and she is required to sign in at Court on the 1st and 15th of each month until her case is heard.

The accident in Playa Blanca on Monday night is being hailed as one of the greatest tragedies in Lanzarote in recent decades, and the severity of the incident has left Brown and her family in a state of profound anxiety, as they are acutely aware of the damage caused to the families involved.
