You don't need to book an overnight stay to enjoy some of the Canary Islands' best hotel facilities this summer. Many four and five-star resorts now offer day passes, giving visitors and residents access to swimming pools, spas, restaurants and other amenities for just a few hours.
The growing trend has become increasingly popular with both locals and holidaymakers looking for an alternative to crowded beaches or somewhere to escape the summer heat. Depending on the hotel, day passes can include everything from buffet lunches and unlimited drinks to spa access, children's water parks and luxury infinity pools.
Tenerife
In Tenerife, the south of the island offers the widest choice thanks to its year-round sunshine and large resort hotels. Family favourites include Iberostar Waves Bouganville Playa in Costa Adeje, Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife in Playa Paraíso and Globales Tamaimo Tropical in Puerto Santiago. For those seeking a quieter experience, the five-star Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey in Santa Cruz and Hotel Fergus in Puerto de la Cruz also offer day pass options.
Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria has one of the biggest selections, particularly around Maspalomas, Meloneras, Playa del Inglés and Puerto Rico. Popular choices include Lopesan Baobab Resort, H10 Playa Meloneras Palace, Servatur Puerto Azul and Gloria Palace San Agustín, with many packages combining pool access, buffet meals and spa facilities.
Lanzarote & Fuerteventura
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura also offer several attractive options. Hotel Volcán Lanzarote in Playa Blanca and Barceló Teguise Beach in Costa Teguise are among the most popular on Lanzarote, while Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf & Spa Resort in Caleta de Fuste and Occidental Jandía Playa in Morro Jable provide family-friendly day experiences on Fuerteventura.
Prices vary depending on the hotel and what's included, with most day passes starting from around €30 to €40 and rising to more than €100 for premium experiences. Many hotels also offer reduced prices for children, while some include food and drink credits or complimentary spa access.
As demand increases during the summer holidays, many hotels recommend booking in advance, particularly at weekends and during peak holiday periods. Availability can be limited, and some resorts restrict the number of day visitors each day.
For residents looking for a relaxing day out or tourists wanting to experience luxury facilities without paying for an overnight stay, a hotel day pass can be a cost-effective way to enjoy some of the Canary Islands' top resorts.
