Shuttle bus bursts into flames in Playa Blanca
A tourist shuttle bus caught fire in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, this afternoon (Friday), sending a column of thick black smoke into the sky that could be seen from across the southern coastline of Lanzarote.
The incident happened shortly before 3 pm on Avenida de Papagayo, near the offices of Get You Holidays. Fortunately, the vehicle was empty at the time, and no injuries have been reported.
According to eyewitnesses, several loud explosions could be heard as the fire spread through the bus. Firefighters were quickly sent to the location to bring the fire under control.
The bus belonged to Canary Shuttle, a transport company that operates transfers between Lanzarote Airport and tourist accommodation across the island.
The dramatic fire caused significant disruption in the busy tourist resort, though emergency crews confirmed the situation was contained. The cause of the blaze has not yet been established.
