Police close popular nightclub after 38 teenagers found inside

A well-known nightclub in Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) has been closed after the police identified 38 underage people inside on Friday 9th February, and other irregularities, including exceeding legal capacity and unauthorised construction work within the premises.

The local authorities disclosed this information in a statement, saying that officers responded to multiple complaints about the alleged presence of underage teenagers in the club. Upon verification of their ages, officers started the process of locating the parents of the identified minors to ensure their safe retrieval.

Furthermore, the police confirmed that the nightclub had exceeded its legal maximum capacity, with over 400 people inside, and that the people in charge of the establishment were conducting business while construction work was in progress inside.

Additionally, two bottles of carbon dioxide were found on the premises, without any protective measures or safety precautions in place.

Upon the police's request for the necessary paperwork and permits for the club, the documentation and licences for the construction work and installation of carbon dioxide bottles, and the mandatory public liability insurance for such activities, the responsible parties were unable to present any of the required documents at that time.

Consequently, the nightclub was cleared and temporarily closed due to violations of Law 7/2011, dated April 5, on Classified Activities, Public Shows, and other complementary administrative measures. A report was submitted to the municipal administration for the initiation of disciplinary proceedings.

Finally, the incident was reported to the Youth Prosecutor's Office in Puerto del Rosario for further investigation.
