Agents of the Local Police have intercepted a male pickpocket who was carrying out thefts in the Port Zone of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, targeting tourists and stealing their mobile phones.
When he was arrested, officers found he was in possession of several mobile phones, most of them iPhones, with a value of around 8,000 euros, all of which have been traced back to their rightful owners either because they reported them stolen or via their contacts.
The Police were alerted to the man after receiving several complaints from people who had all had their phones stolen in the same area, and intercepted him as he matched descriptions given by various victims.
The arrested man has now been passed over to the judicial authorities with the relevant police reports for sentencing.
