One lucky person in the Canary Islands has scooped the jackpot from Friday’s Bonoloto lottery draw (November 1st), with a ticket they bought at Las Palma Airport in Gran Canaria!
According to Loterías y Apuestas del Estado the ticket has been validated and the lucky traveller needs to claim their prize of 2,354,395 euros. The winning numbers for the draw were 2, 8, 13, 32, 39, and 45, with 6 as the bonus number, and 4 as the refund.
While the sole winner in the First Category (6 correct numbers) secured the multimillion-euro prize in Gran Canaria, the Second Category (5 correct numbers plus the bonus number) was won by a ticket holder in Córdoba, in mainland Spain.
The Bonoloto, which takes place from Monday to Saturday, is managed by Loterías y Apuestas del Estado and is known for being the most affordable lottery available, as tickets cost just 50 cents each to play.
First introduced on February 28th, 1988, Bonoloto was designed to offer more frequent draws at a lower cost compared to other games at the time, such as La Primitiva, La Quiniela, and the National Lottery.
The game saw its first major win on July 9th, 1989, distributing a record-breaking 604 million pesetas (around 3.63 million euros today). Over time, the lottery has evolved, introducing a “reintegro” number in 1991 that refunds the cost of the bet if matched.
Since the introduction of Law 16/2012, prizes exceeding 40,000 euros are subject to a 20% tax, which is deducted before winners receive their payout. This regulation ensures that winners do not need to navigate complex tax processes post-payment.
- Prizes under 2,000 euros can be claimed at any Loterías y Apuestas del Estado retailer.
- Prizes over 2,500 euros must be collected at partnering banks.
