New website is launched to register positive self-diagnosis test results

The Ministry of Health has launched a new website today (Friday) for people to officially register a positive test result for Covid after taking a self-diagnosis test purchased in a chemist. The aim is to streamline the process of obtaining Temporary Disability (TI), i.e. time off work, due to being infected with Covid.

The website can be found at www.miautotestcovid.com and will reduce the number of calls to 900 112 061 from patients who have tested positive with an antigen self-test and need to notify the health service.

This also means that the way of obtaining authorisation for sick leave, called an ‘alta’ in Spain, is streamlined, since the administrative process for the cancellation, or ‘baja’, begins at the moment in which the positive test result is registered online.

However, the use of this tool needs a responsible declaration by the user with the correct information included in it.

How does it work?
If you need to register a test result, go to miautotestcovid.com, and fill out the form on the website that includes five fields:
- Health card number.
- Secure health card verification code (CSV).
- Mobile phone number.
- Whether you have symptoms or not.
- Whether or not you need sick leave.

Once the form has been submitted, the data provided by the user is analysed, and the case is referred to the corresponding department according to the circumstances of each patient, to manage the ‘baja’ or medical follow-up.

If the patient meets the requirements established for an automated ‘baja’, they will be given an appointment with the central team of doctors in charge of processing sick leave for mild cases. If these requirements are not met, you will be given an appointment with the COVID follow-up team and be attended to by the staff in charge of these procedures.

In the event that any of the data provided by the patient is wrong or is not included in the Canary Islands Health Service database, the user will receive an SMS indicating that they must call the free line 900 112 061 to carry out the process in person.

At the same time, the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) is now working with the Official Colleges of Pharmacists in the islands, for the integration of information systems that allow chemists to report test results directly to the SCS.
