Jet2 improves its profit forecasts and says summer bookings are "encouraging"

Jet2 Group has presented its gross operating profit (EBITDA) forecasts for the 2023 financial year, which finishes at the end of next month (March), showing a significant increase in the figure of millions that they plan to record as pre-tax profits.

The parent company of the airline Jet2.com and the tour operator Jet2holidays is also looking optimistically at 2024 and says that the booking forecast for this summer is “encouraging”, as it is currently 1.5% above that of 2023.

The group has reported that its calculations of profits before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation have increased from between 560 and 605 million euros to between 595 and 610 million.

Thus, faced with a 20.5% increase in the capacity of seats for sale, reservations for winter 2023/24 have performed well with a current increase of 17% in the reserved passenger sectors and solid average prices, both for flight-only products and holiday packages.

Summer 2024:

Jet2 indicates that the capacity of air seats on sale for the summer of 2024 is currently 12.5% higher than that of the 2023 peak season, with 17.2 million seats.

“Advance bookings to date are encouraging, with average load factors 1.5% higher than summer 2023. Package holiday customers are up 17%, with the proportion of holiday packages to total passengers output of approximately 77%, in line with the summer of 2023”, they explained.

New planes and a base in Liverpool:

To face the next high season, the company has incorporated five new Airbus A321neo aircraft and is getting ready to open its 11th base in the UK, located at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which is scheduled for March 28th.

“We are satisfied with how the 2023 financial year is ending and are encouraged by the first reservations for the summer. Our clients appreciate their time away from our rainy island and want to be properly cared for during their holiday. We remain confident that they will continue to travel with us to the sunny spots of the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and European leisure cities,” said Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2 Group.
