England are just one game away from a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final after battling past Norway 2-1 in an absorbing quarter-final that has given English football fans, and bar owners, across the Canary Islands plenty to celebrate.
The Three Lions had to come from behind after Norway took a first-half lead, but Jude Bellingham once again proved England's talisman, scoring a brilliant equaliser just before the break before netting the winning goal early in extra time to send Thomas Tuchel's side into the semi-finals. It was a hard-fought victory against a resilient Norwegian team, but England's quality eventually shone through.
The result sets up a mouth-watering semi-final against defending champions Argentina on Wednesday at 8:00pm, a fixture expected to fill sports bars, pubs and terraces across the archipelago as thousands of British residents and holidaymakers gather to cheer on England.
For bar owners throughout Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, England's progress has brought a welcome boost to business. Venues showing the games have enjoyed packed terraces, increased food and drink sales and a lively atmosphere whenever the Three Lions take to the pitch.
Many establishments catering to British visitors are already preparing for another busy night on Wednesday, with tables expected to be reserved well in advance for what could be England's biggest match since reaching the Euros final two years ago.
