The nationwide public transport strike set for tomorrow, Monday 9th December, is expected to affect bus services across Tenerife, with key measures in place to ensure limited disruption.
Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (TITSA) has announced that between 75% and 80% of regular weekday services will operate as part of the mandated minimum service provision.
Originally planned for last Thursday, 5th December, the strike was postponed following progress in negotiations with the central government. Talks centred on proposals to lower the retirement age for transport workers to 60 years, which led to a temporary halt in strike action.
However, the planned industrial action remains scheduled for Monday, running from midnight until 11:59pm.
Minimum Service Levels Across Tenerife
Local authorities have implemented specific measures to guarantee a baseline level of service during the strike. The Cabildo de Tenerife has set a 75% minimum service level for interurban routes across the island.
Passengers are advised to consult TITSA’s official website for detailed information about the affected routes and schedules. These measures aim to strike a balance between supporting workers' rights and minimising disruption for passengers.
Monday's strike is poised to be a significant test of these minimum service agreements, with passengers encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly.
