One of the highlights of the program of events scheduled by Las Palmas to celebrate its 544th birthday coincides with the festival of San Juan, i.e. the ‘Noche de Fuegos’. The city is planning a huge fireworks display that will light up the sky over Las Canteras beach for the first time in three years due to the pandemic.

On the night of June 23rd, the display will feature 560 kilos of gunpowder that will be launched simultaneously from the Los Muellitos and La Puntilla areas of the city, which will allow a colourful and impressive fireworks display to be seen from the beach.

In addition, the night will feature several live bands with the likes of Ruts & La Isla Music, David Bustamante and Totó Noriega; while Javier Gurruchaga and the Mondragón Orchestra will perform in the Plaza de la Música .

On the eve of the city’s birthday, the Honours and Distinctions ceremony will take place in which the work of 23 people and institutions will be recognized in the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium.
