VIDEO: Adeje Council condemns boxing match on Del Duque beach

Adeje Council has expressed its disappointment in an official statement today (Sunday) after videos on social media showed several young people starting a fight with boxing gloves on Del Duque beach in the municipality yesterday, while being cheered by groups of people not respecting the safety distance, wearing masks or the rest of the anti-Covid measures.

The statement for the Adeje Town Hall says: “The council reminds the public that the island is currently in alert Level 3 with a high Covid-19 infection rate affecting the borough. The town hall is working hard to keep people informed regarding current health norms in place, to stem any advance of infections. Given that the main business of the borough is tourism, the reactivation of that industry is vital and we must protect the borough and the image we project abroad.” The council is calling on everyone in Adeje to behave with responsibility, adding that only if we work together will we emerge from this crisis

While the council is aware that the ‘boxing bout’ that took place yesterday was an isolated event, they repeat the call for all to take responsibility and avoid this kind of events and behaviour. The council also states that it condemns any kind of violence.
