FTI Group: travelling to the Canary Islands at Easter ‘is possible’

FTI, the third largest tour operator in Germany only behind Tui and Der Touristik, believes in the reactivation of outbound tourism at Easter and directly points to the Canary Islands as one of the destinations that meets the optimal conditions to receive tourists.

The management of the company, that has brands such as Meeting Point and Reizen in its portfolio, are convinced that "organized holidays may already be possible at Easter”, and has presented their travel plan for summer 21, which is almost as normal.

In the words of its CEO, Ralph Schiller, "after almost a year of pandemic, many customers are yearning for a relaxing break, so we have to work with politicians to create the way for people to travel safely. Last year we were able to show that the organized trips we offer as tour operators, do in fact work”, he defends.

FTI assures that its clients want to travel and that they will formalize the reservation as soon as they know the situation of the destinations and the restrictions they will have on their return to Germany. In addition to the Canary Islands, Egypt and Dubai are currently the most popular destinations for Easter for their clients.

“We firmly believe that a safe Easter holiday is possible with a suitable test system. Waiting for everyone to have received the vaccine is not a solution from our point of view, because we have to learn to live with the virus in some way and allow a safe trip while respecting protection measures”, Schiller said.

Last week, the lockdown was extended in Germany for three weeks, but it is expected to be lifted at the beginning of March, still a month away from Easter, and plenty of time for people to book a trip away.
