4 arrested and 30 fined at a party on the South of Tenerife
Locals who live between El Retamar and Tamaimo, in Santiago del Teide, were surprised on Saturday evening when, at around 7pm, they began to hear noises from a nearby finca. A few hours later, two of them called the Local Police from Santiago, alerting them of a party with loud music and attended by a large group of people.
When the he Local Police arrived at the farm, there were more people there than they expected, reporting that there was over 30, so called for backup from the Guardia Civil in Guía de Isora and Playa de Las Américas.
The intervention resulted in 30 sanctions for not respecting the anti-covid regulations, and four people were arrested for resisting authority. The ten active agents found at least 30 people, some in costumes, dancing without masks, no safety distancing, and violating the limit of attendees to a meeting, which is currently six under Level 2 restrictions. According to the police report most of the people at the party were of German, French and Italian nationality, who live on the Island.
The Councillor for Security of Santiago del Teide, Ibrahim Forte, regrets not only the breach of health measures in this case in his municipality, but that some attendees of the party faced up to the agents of the Local Police and the Guardia Civil who went to the finca in El Retamar.
"Not only did they put themselves and the officers in danger, but some showed a defiant attitude as if the sanitary measures were a joke. We have to be severe with these types of attitudes," said Forte, who reported that the four people who offered the most resistance to orders to comply with sanitary regulations, were arrested.
They are accused of resisting authority, in addition to the sanctioning file for breaking the protocols which has a penalty of 600 euros.
