Canary Islands will approve aid to SMEs and the self-employed on Monday
The Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Canary Islands Government, Antonio Olivera, has announced that a Government Council meeting is scheduled for Monday with the aim of approving the aid designed for the self-employed and SMEs, noting that they will begin to be distributed during the month of March.
During the press conference after the Governing Council, he stated that the matter was discussed yesterday (Thursday) but that it was decided to leave its approval until Monday to finish outlining some improvements which will allow the money to arrive "as soon as possible."
"It’s a pioneering initiative because for the first time a call for subsidies is regulated in this way, and it has implied a very intensive and coordinated work by the departments of Economy, Finance and Tourism," he said.
Olivera especially emphasized that the Government is "very aware" of the urgency of the aid, and that the key to any line of aid is that must be formatted to reach the beneficiaries, in this case the self-employed and SMEs, as soon as possible, adding that it will be in March when these resources will begin to arrive.
