Covid update: 297 new cases, 131 in Gran Canaria, 47 in Tenerife, and 5 deaths

The Canary Islands has surpassed 32,000 cases of Covid-19 today after adding another 297 new infections in the last hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands.

The growing trend of infections continues in Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, which account for 74% of new cases and both are at Level 3 alert. In the last 24 hours the islands have reported five deaths from coronavirus, two in Tenerife, two in Gran Canaria and another in Lanzarote, raising the total number of fatalities to 486.

Another 20 people were admitted to hospital wards today, with six ICU beds becoming available, 1 through medical discharge, and the other five lost their fight against the disease. The Accumulated Incidence (AI) at seven days today stands at 92.64 per 100,000 inhabitants and the AI ​​at 14 days at 180.55, which has dropped slightly, even though El Hierro’s has shot up.
