Burglar drops notebook with his name on it, in a house he was robbing!

The Local Police arrested a 40-year-old man yesterday in Viveiro, a town in Lugo in the northwest of Spain, who broke into a house to burgle it, and left a notebook behind that had his name on it.

The incident occurred at 9.20am yesterday (Sunday) morning when the police received a call from the owner of the house, located on Rúa de Casal dos Ovos, in which she alerted them of a stranger in her home.

Two vehicles with four officers drove to the address and met with the owner of the house, who explained that she had heard noises while she was still in bed, so she got up and went to the living room, where he saw a man who quickly left the building.

As he rushed out, a small notebook fell out of his pocket on to the floor which the woman picked up, and inside it said: “This notebook belongs to” and had a man’s name on it, which later was confirmed to be the burglars name.

After getting information and a description from the owner of the house, the two patrol cars made a search of the area, and quickly tracked down the suspect in a street nearby called Camiño da Valenta. On searching him they found he had a small utility knife in his possession, but not the effects that he had taken from the house.

Finally, when questioned by the police, the man confessed that he had hidden them in a different street around the corner, and when they recovered it, agents found a metal box with several bank books and letters in the name of the victim, and 250 euros in cash.

Following this, the Local Police officers arrested the man for the robbery and took him to the National Police station shortly before 10am, only 40 minutes from the call to arrest.
