Body of missing Irishman Peter Wilson found in Tenerife
The family of missing Irishman, Peter Wilson, have released a statement confirming that the remains of the dad of two from Rochfortbridge in Co Westmeath, who vanished while on holiday almost two years ago, have been found in Tenerife. DNA tests have confirmed that the body found in waste ground by the Siam Mall shopping centre at the beginning of January, is that of Peter.
Family and friends have worked tirelessly trying to locate Peter since the day he disappeared, never giving up hope that they would find him, but had to announce the devastating news late last night on the official ‘Finding Peter Wilson’ Facebook page.
Statement on behalf of the Wilson family:
It is with deep sadness that we can now confirm that Peter Wilson’s remains have been found in Tenerife.
The family are currently focusing on bringing Peter home to his final resting place in Rochfortbridge, with the support and assistance of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. During this difficult time, we would request privacy and time to grieve the loss of our son, brother, father, grandson, nephew, cousin, dear friend and work colleague.
It has been an ongoing search for almost two years. We have been supported throughout this time by so many organisations and friends. We would like to thank SOS Desaparecidos, GEBE, Noahs Ark and all their volunteers, Bomberos Voluntarios De Adeje, Katrina Lowry, Deena Edwards, Pilar Doniz Siverio, and so many more in Tenerife.
We received so much support locally, nationally and internationally also. We would like to thank all our friends and family, all the organisations near and far who have been on this journey with us. We would like to thank those who organised and who supported all the fundraisers.
We would also like to extend our thanks to the Polica Nacionale, An Garda Síochána, The department of Foreign affairs and the local and national press in Ireland and Tenerife, Missing Persons Ireland, the Lucy Blackman Trust, for always keeping Peters search active.
We hope that by finding Peter, it gives hope to the families of other missing persons, never give up searching. You are in our thoughts and prayers always.
We are forever grateful to you all.

Thee 33 year old travelled to Tenerife on Friday March 22nd 2019 on a Ryanair flight from Dublin for a week’s holiday, staying at the Malibu Park Hotel, in San Eugenio, Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife.
The next day he went to Playa De Las Americas to watch the Ireland vs Gibraltar soccer match in a local pub, and returned to his hotel in the afternoon before getting a taxi back into Playa De Las Americas later that evening.
Peter was last seen on that day, 23rd March 2019, close to where that taxi dropped him off in the centre of Playa De Las Americas. He never returned to the hotel and his personal belongings including his passport were still in his room, although he had his mobile phone and wallet with him. The first indications point to an accidental death, although the investigation remains open, since the results of the autopsy are not yet definitive.
