Wednesday’s weather: Clear and sunny south, cloudy and windy north

The latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) shows a day of mild weather with clear skies for most of the Canary Islands today, Wednesday. However, the southeast and northwest of the islands will experience strong winds with some intense gusts in these areas.

Temperatures are expected to remain steady or drop slightly along the coasts, with more noticeable cooling in higher altitude locations. Meanwhile, a moderate trade wind will sweep through the archipelago, becoming stronger in the southeastern and northwestern slopes.

In the mountainous regions of Tenerife, strong winds from the northwest are expected, but they will gradually subside by mid-morning. AEMET also forecast the return of a calima, a haze caused by dust and sand from the Sahara Desert, later in the week.

Seas will be rough in most areas, with waves around one metre high. In the southwestern coastal regions, lighter winds will prevail, with variable conditions between force 1 and 3 and calmer seas.

Island-by-Island Forecast:

In the west, skies will clear by the afternoon. Coastal temperatures will remain stable, while higher regions will experience a moderate decrease, especially in maximum temperatures.

Strong winds are expected in southeastern and northwestern areas, possibly extending to the southern metropolitan area by the end of the day. Coastal breezes will affect the western coasts, while in the central highlands, northwesterly winds will be moderate with occasional strong gusts early on.
Forecast temperatures: High of 28°C and low of 22°C.
