The latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) shows a day of mild weather with clear skies for most of the Canary Islands today, Wednesday. However, the southeast and northwest of the islands will experience strong winds with some intense gusts in these areas.
Temperatures are expected to remain steady or drop slightly along the coasts, with more noticeable cooling in higher altitude locations. Meanwhile, a moderate trade wind will sweep through the archipelago, becoming stronger in the southeastern and northwestern slopes.
In the mountainous regions of Tenerife, strong winds from the northwest are expected, but they will gradually subside by mid-morning. AEMET also forecast the return of a calima, a haze caused by dust and sand from the Sahara Desert, later in the week.
Seas will be rough in most areas, with waves around one metre high. In the southwestern coastal regions, lighter winds will prevail, with variable conditions between force 1 and 3 and calmer seas.
