Weather forecast for next few days: Clear skies, light calima, and moderate winds

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has released an updated weather forecast for the next few days in the Canary Islands. From today, Sunday, September 22nd, they are forecasting calm weather conditions for the archipelago, with no significant meteorological events expected. However, there will be local variations across different islands and areas.

Today, Sunday, the northern regions of the mountainous islands and Lanzarote will experience morning cloud cover, which is expected to clear by the afternoon. In the rest of the islands, skies will be mostly clear, with some high clouds scattered across the area. Additionally, a light calima (Saharan dust) will appear at high altitudes, primarily affecting the eastern islands, particularly during the afternoon.

Temperatures and Winds:

  • No major changes are expected in temperatures. Minimums will hover around 22°C and maximums will reach 27°C across the islands.
  • Winds will be light from the northeast in the morning, strengthening to moderate levels throughout the day.

Forecast for Monday and Tuesday:

  • On Monday, cloudy intervals will persist in the north of Lanzarote and the mountainous islands, especially during the morning, while the rest of the archipelago will see clear skies with occasional high clouds. Winds will blow moderately from the northeast, with strong gusts expected in the northwest and southeast areas.
  • Tuesday’s weather will remain similar, with a chance of light, occasional rain in the northern and northeastern parts of the mountainous islands. Temperatures will stay stable or experience a slight dip, while moderate northeasterly winds will continue, with stronger gusts in certain areas.

Overall, the Canary Islands can expect stable weather in the next few days, with mostly clear skies and pleasant, seasonal temperatures.
