Cloudy skies and light, patchy rain are forecast across the Canary Islands this Friday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The weather is expected to remain unsettled over the coming days, with changing cloud cover, occasional showers and strengthening winds in some areas.

At sea, conditions will also be variable. Northerly or north-easterly winds of force 3 to 5 are expected, easing slightly in northern coastal areas at times. Sea conditions will range from slight to moderate, with a northerly or north-westerly swell of around three metres.

Island-by-island forecast for Friday 19th December 2025:

On Lanzarote, skies will range from partly cloudy to overcast, with a chance of light, scattered showers. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, while light northerly winds will turn north-easterly and strengthen towards the end of the day. Temperatures are expected to range between 16°C and 21°C.

Fuerteventura will see similar conditions, with intervals of cloud and the possibility of occasional light rain. Temperatures will stay stable, and light northerly winds will shift to the north-east and become stronger later in the day. Temperatures are forecast between 16°C and 22°C.

In Gran Canaria, skies will become increasingly cloudy during the afternoon. Light rain is expected mainly in the north, with a risk of more persistent and locally moderate rainfall in mid-altitude areas and exposed high ground. Temperatures will show little overall change, although minimum temperatures may dip slightly inland, while daytime highs could rise a little in northern mid-altitude areas. Winds will be generally light from the north but stronger on eastern and western slopes, turning north-easterly later in the day. Very strong gusts cannot be ruled out in north-western and south-eastern areas by evening. Temperatures are expected to range from 17°C to 22°C.

Tenerife will experience partly cloudy skies becoming mostly cloudy during the morning. Rain is expected mainly in the north, particularly early and late in the day, with a chance of light and occasional showers in mid-altitude areas elsewhere. The snow level is forecast between 2,400 and 2,600 metres. Temperatures will remain stable overall, although cooler conditions are expected in the central highlands, where light frost is possible at higher elevations. Maximum temperatures may rise slightly in northern mid-altitude areas. Winds will be generally light from the north, turning north-easterly and strengthening later in the day, with locally very strong gusts possible in the south-east. Strong northerly winds are also possible at higher levels around Mount Teide. Temperatures are forecast between 17°C and 23°C.

Residents and visitors are advised to keep an eye on local forecasts, particularly if travelling to higher ground or coastal areas, as conditions may change quickly.
