The Guardia Civil have arrested two people in connection with over 10 crimes committed in the south of Tenerife. The suspects, identified by the Analysis and Investigation Unit of the Fiscal and Border Section (UDAIFF) at Reina Sofia Airport, are believed to have been involved in a range of offences including robbery with violence or intimidation, robbery with force, theft of motor vehicles, falsification of documents, and causing injuries.
The investigation was launched after authorities became aware of a violent robbery at a holiday rental apartment, which the suspects had accessed by climbing over a wall and forcing open the door.
Through further investigation, it was discovered that the burglars had used a stolen vehicle in a previous crime, which they had modified by switching the number plates with one belonging to a different vehicle.
Additionally, the pair are accused of a violent robbery at Tenerife South Airport, where they snatched a bag from a person and fled in a vehicle, leaving the victim with multiple injuries after one of the vehicle's wheels ran over one of their legs.
After conducting a thorough analysis of the evidence gathered during the investigation, Guardia Civil agents were able to identify the suspects as the perpetrators of the crimes mentioned, leading to their swift identification and arrest.
The close collaboration between the Guardia Civil and Local Police from San Miguel de Abona was instrumental in identifying and locating the suspects. One of the accused has been found to be driving without a valid license since 2020 and is also being investigated for a traffic safety violation.
Thanks to the investigation, several stolen vehicles and manipulated number plates have been recovered. The suspects, along with evidence collected by UDAIFF agents, have been placed in custody at Arona's Court of Instruction number 3 where they will face a trial.
