The Canary Islands have once again proven their allure to Hollywood’s elite, with Tom Cruise and Jeff Goldblum choosing the archipelago as their festive retreat this year. Both actors, celebrated for their iconic roles in some of the movie industry’s biggest blockbusters, spent part of the holiday season soaking up the sun and enjoying the unique charm of the islands.
Tom Cruise Rings in the New Year in Lanzarote
Tom Cruise, known for his roles in Top Gun and the Mission: Impossible franchise, spent the New Year in Lanzarote. The three-time Golden Globe winner stayed in Puerto Calero, where he was spotted enjoying the company of friends aboard a yacht. Witnesses reported seeing the actor, who was described as approachable and cheerful, during his low-key holiday.
Cruise left Lanzarote on January 2nd on his private jet, a Bombardier Global Express, heading for Farnborough Airport in the UK. Before his departure, airport staff member Óscar Falero had the unique opportunity to interact with the star while delivering catering for the flight.
Falero said, “He complimented my tattoos and kindly agreed to take a photo with me. His security team later asked me not to share it publicly for a few days.”
Now 62, Cruise continues to command attention both for his prolific career and his personal life. Known for his dedication to performing his own stunts, he remains one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars. With three Oscar nominations, a Saturn Award, and an honorary Palme d’Or to his name, Cruise’s influence in the industry remains unmatched.
Jeff Goldblum’s Relaxing Stay in Gran Canaria
Meanwhile, Jeff Goldblum, star of Jurassic Park and Independence Day, spent the final days of 2024 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Accompanied by his family, Goldblum stayed at the luxurious Hotel Santa Catalina, where he was seen mingling with fans and locals. The actor also visited the Club Natación Metropole, where he dined and posed for photos with club members.
Known for his charisma and distinctive style, Goldblum’s recent work includes Netflix’s Kaos and the box-office hit Wicked. His visit to the Canary Islands added another memorable chapter to his illustrious career.
The Canary Islands: A Star-Studded Destination
The islands have become a popular getaway for Hollywood stars. In November, Samuel L. Jackson was spotted in Gran Canaria during a break from filming his new movie called The Beast.
The legendary actor dined at local favourites such as Restaurante Fuji and Trattoria Pizzeria Calabrè and even enjoyed a round of golf at Meloneras alongside UD Las Palmas striker Oli McBurnie.
The presence of such high-profile celebrities highlights the Canary Islands’ growing appeal as a destination that offers both tranquillity and world-class hospitality.
