Sunday’s weather forecast: Cloudy skies and occasional drizzle

The Canary Islands are set for a day of cloudy skies with intermittent drizzle, according to the latest forecast from the Spanish Met Office (Aemet).

Today, Sunday, residents and visitors can expect cloudy intervals in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and the larger islands. Occasional and scattered light rain is also possible in some areas, with temperatures remaining stable across the archipelago.

Winds will blow moderately from the northeast, except in the eastern islands where a northerly wind is expected. Coastal areas in the southwest will experience gentle breezes, while moderate southwest winds are forecast for the high mountain ranges.

The seas around the islands will see moderate to strong winds from the north or northeast, with wind speeds of force 3 to 4, increasing to 4 to 5 or occasionally reaching 6 in some areas. Waves are expected to reach up to 1 to 2 metres, particularly from the north. On the southern, southwestern, and western coasts, calmer seas with ripples or slight waves are predicted.

Lanzarote:

Partly cloudy skies with clearer conditions on the southern slopes by morning. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged. Winds will be moderate from the north.
Temperatures: High of 28°C and a low of 21°C

Fuerteventura:

Partly cloudy, with clearer skies in the southern half of the island from the early morning. Temperatures will stay stable. Winds will be moderate from the north.
Temperatures: High of 26°C and a low of 21°C

Gran Canaria:

Cloudy intervals, particularly over the centre of the island and lower northern slopes, where light drizzles cannot be ruled out. Winds will be moderate from the northeast, with stronger gusts in the southeastern and western extremes by the afternoon. On the summits, moderate southwest winds are expected, becoming stronger during the first half of the day. Light breezes will affect southwestern coasts.
Temperatures: High of 27°C and a low of 22°C

Tenerife:

Clear skies in the central mountain peaks. Cloudy intervals will be more prominent in the midlands and lower northern and northeastern areas, with chances of occasional light drizzles. Temperatures will see little change. Moderate northeast winds are expected, while the high summits will experience southwest winds. Breezes are forecast along the western coast.
