Spain is planning to launch its Digital Nomad visa in January

Spain is planning to launch its Digital Nomad visa for overseas remote workers in the New Year as part of the new Startup Act, which is also expected to be passed in January. According to a Business Insider report, the minimum requirement will be monthly earnings of between 2,000 and 3,000 euros a month.

Spain’s Congress of Ministers approved the Law for the Promotion of the Emerging Companies Ecosystem, which is the first in Europe, to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

According to the statement published by the Spanish government, the Startup Law, eliminates bureaucratic obstacles and tax incentives and also makes procedures easier to encourage the creation and investment in emerging technology-based companies, and aims to attract foreign workers.

Last month, Parliament approved new rules for start-ups and digital nomads in order to reduce Corporation Tax from 25% to 15% for these workers in the first four years of their stay in Spain and its territories, which includes the Canary Islands.

This will help people non EU countries that haven’t been resident in Spain in the past four years, to benefit from a special visa that can be renewed for up to five years, at which point you have the opportunity to become a resident of that country in a much easier way.

The Startup Law has been considered among the most important milestones for this year within the Digital Spain 2026 Agenda, an ambitious digitalization plan that the country has designed.
