Some rain and pre-alert activated for ‘coastal flooding’ in the Canary Islands

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is forecasting high cloud coverage and little change in temperatures across the Canary Islands for Thursday, with light showers in some areas.

This forecast suggests a day of moderate weather conditions with localised rainfall, especially in Tenerife, while a pre-alert has been issued for potential flooding in coastal areas due to "spring tides" associated with the full moon.

Island-specific Weather Forecast for Thursday:

Lanzarote:
High cloud coverage with some intervals during the early morning and late night.
Stable temperatures, with light variable winds.

  • Temperatures: 19°C (low) / 27°C (high)

Fuerteventura:
High clouds with occasional intervals on the eastern and western coasts during early hours. Slight temperature drop in some areas, with light northerly winds.

  • Temperatures: 20°C (low) / 25°C (high)

Gran Canaria:
High clouds with some morning intervals in the north and afternoon clouds in the east and south. Stable or slightly lower minimum temperatures, with light northern winds, becoming moderate in some regions later in the day.

  • Temperatures: 22°C (low) / 25°C (high)

Tenerife:
High cloud coverage, particularly in the northern and southern regions, with a chance of light, occasional rain, mainly overnight in the north and in the afternoon in the south. Slight drop in temperatures in higher elevations. Winds will be light, with stronger northerly winds in the afternoon and moderate westerly winds in central highlands.
