SATURDAY'S WEATHER: Calima is approaching the Canary Islands with a chance of light showers

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) are forecasting partly cloudy skies with high clouds for the Canary Islands today, Saturday, with a slight chance of light, sporadic rain in the afternoon. They are also warning of possible light haze, particularly affecting the eastern islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura at higher altitudes.

A slight increase in maximum temperatures is expected in higher elevations on the larger islands. Winds will be light from the northeast in the eastern province (Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) picking up strength throughout the morning, while in the western province (Tenerife and the western islands), variable light winds will shift northeast and increase by evening.

Marine Conditions

Winds at sea will vary in strength from force 1 to 3, mainly from the north, intensifying to force 3 or 4 during the day. Expect calm to slightly choppy seas, with temporary moderate swells at night in the central islands.

Lanzarote:

Partly cloudy, with high clouds dominating and some mid-level clouds in the afternoon. Light haze is expected in higher areas during the afternoon. Temperatures will remain steady. Winds will shift to the northeast and intensify during the morning, with light breezes along the southern coasts.
Temperatures: High of 26°C and a low of 21°C.

Fuerteventura:

Partly cloudy, with high clouds in the morning and mid-level clouds in the afternoon. Haze is expected in higher areas later in the day. Temperatures will see little change, with light northeast winds strengthening in the morning. Breezes will affect the southern coasts.
Temperatures: High of 26°C and a low of 20°C.

Gran Canaria:

Mostly clear, with high clouds dominating. Low clouds will appear in the north during the early morning and late evening. Temperatures will remain stable, except for slight increases in higher elevations. Northeast winds will strengthen by morning, with occasional strong gusts in the southeast and northwest slopes during the afternoon. Breezes along the southwestern coast.
Temperatures: High of 25°C and a low of 22°C.

Tenerife:

Clouds will increase over interior areas and along the southern and eastern slopes during the afternoon, with a chance of light, isolated showers. Temperatures will largely remain unchanged, with some slight increases in higher elevations. Winds will shift to the northeast and increase by evening. Breezes will affect coastal areas, while moderate southwest winds will prevail over central summits.
Temperatures: High of 27°C and a low of 22°C.
