Protestors turn out in force against El Puertito development in Costa Adeje

Thousands of people against the 'Cuna del Alma' development in El Puertito in Costa Adeje, have not only signed an online petition claiming that the construction will be breaking environmental laws but hundreds of protestors headed to the beach on Sunday to voice their anger to the Cabildo and the politicians who have allowed this project to go ahead.

The Tenerife Cabildo has reacted to the call, and yesterday (Monday), the president, Pedro Martín, gave orders to officials and technicians of the corporation to start reviewing all the reports of the 'Cuna del Alma' urban project that is going to be built on the south coast.

"We are going to enforce the law," he told reporters while confirming that it is necessary to be certain that the project, which involves the construction of more than 400 luxury apartments with an investment of almost 350 million euros, complies with all urban and environmental regulations and does not invade any protected space.

Martín has specified that any reports that depend on the Cabildo’s authorisation "have been favourable", but has made it clear that the “corporation "will act directly if it is shown that any legal regulations are not complied with."

He stated that “the Cabildo is very much on top of this project” and has insisted that it must be guaranteed that there are no "environmental or landscape alterations" and that "it is beyond any doubt" that the project acting in accordance with current laws.
