The Government of the Canary Islands will activate a pre-alert for strong winds across the entire Archipelago from 3:00pm this Tuesday, through the Directorate General of Emergencies.

The measure follows an assessment of data from the Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and other official sources, and is implemented under the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Adverse Weather (PEFMA).

According to the forecast, northeasterly gusts are expected in Gran Canaria and La Gomera, with the strongest winds affecting summit areas and the eastern and northwestern slopes. The pre-alert also covers La Palma, El Hierro, and Tenerife, where winds will mainly impact high-altitude zones, east-southeast and northwest-facing areas.

In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the wind is expected to be more moderate, although authorities will maintain enhanced monitoring due to the possibility of strong gusts.

Maximum gusts could reach or exceed 70 km/h, prompting officials to urge the public to exercise caution.

The Directorate General of Emergencies reminds residents and visitors to follow official self-protection advice during the pre-alert period to minimise risks and prevent incidents.
