The island of La Palma is currently the location for the filming of a new British series for Netflix called ‘The Choice’. It is political thriller starring Julie Delpy (The Dark Knight) as a fictional French president and Suranne Jones (Vigil) as a fictional British prime minister.

Created and produced by Matt Charman, known for his work on Traitors and Bridge of Spies, the series focuses on an international summit between the French and British leaders that goes wrong when the husband of the British Prime Minister is kidnapped and the French president is blackmailed.

The star-studded cast also includes:

- Corey Mylcreest (Bridgerton) as Matheo Lewis

- Lucian Msamati (Game of Thrones) as Kofi Adomako

- James Cosmo (Highlander, Braveheart, Trainspotting) as Max, Dalton's ailing father

- Jehnny Beth as Adrienne Pelletier

- Ashley Thomas as Alex Anderson

The plot thickens as they navigate a health crisis, confront high-stakes decisions, and deal with kidnappings and blackmail that threaten their political careers and personal lives. The series will consist of five episodes, each lasting 60 minutes.

Filming began in the UK before moving to La Palma, where local expertise is playing a crucial role. Over ten local companies have been involved, providing specialised services to support this high-profile production.

There is no confirmed release date for the new series as yet.
