Los Guíos Beach reopens after closure for essential safety work

The Santiago del Teide Council has partially reopened Los Guíos Beach, on the west coast of Tenerife, a beloved spot in the heart of the popular tourist destination of Los Gigantes. This reopening comes after a temporary closure was deemed necessary due to vital safety improvements being made to Calle Las Adelfas, a street adjoining the beach.

The Town Council of Santiago del Teide has embarked on a phased reopening of the beach after the closure was implemented with the utmost concern for the safety of residents and visitors while essential construction work was underway.

An official statement from the local authorities confirmed this reopening and provided insights into the progress of the ongoing construction efforts.

It's essential to understand that this reopening is taking place in several phases, and this approach has been approved by the project management team responsible for overseeing the construction work. Initially, the beach will be accessible to the public from 9am to 5pm, with plans for further incremental openings as the construction advances.

The construction work itself encompasses several significant elements. Most notably, an elevated viewpoint, positioned approximately 2 metres above the cliff's slope at Los Guíos Beach, is being built. This viewpoint is set to extend outward, offering beachgoers a relaxing platform to enjoy panoramic views of the awe-inspiring cliffs that grace the coastline.

The decision to temporarily close Los Guíos Beach was made in August, with construction work commencing on September 4th. Mayor Emilio Navarro emphasized the significance of ensuring safety for both local residents and visitors and called for the public's cooperation during this period of closure. He encouraged the community to look forward to the newly designed viewpoint and the breathtaking vistas it will offer once the project reaches its completion.
