A bizarre incident happened on Saturday morning, when a lorry fell into the sea at the Port of Las Palmas, at the Armas Trasmediterránea ferry terminal in Gran Canaria. Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicle at the time, and authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported.
According to initial information from the ferry company, the incident may have happened after the driver left the vehicle before boarding without applying the handbrake.
Combined with strong gusts of wind in the port area, the unattended lorry is believed to have rolled forward and fallen into the water.
Emergency teams were quickly sent to the scene and the appropriate safety protocol was activated immediately.
Specialist divers from the company Reprosub took part in the recovery operation. Two divers went underwater to secure the lorry, while four additional divers assisted from the surface.
The vehicle was successfully lifted out of the water and removed from the port shortly afterwards.
Thanks to the rapid and coordinated response, the situation was resolved quickly and without any injuries.
