Investigation into the murder of a woman found dead at her home in Gran Canaria

The discovery of the body of a 64-year-old woman inside a house in the Aríñez neighbourhood, located in the municipality of San Mateo, Gran Canaria, is currently under investigation by the Guardia Civil as suspected murder.

According to police sources, the victim's body shows signs of foul play, prompting them to initiate a thorough investigation. Initially, it has been ruled out as a case of gender-based violence since the victim is not listed in the VioGén database.

The same sources have also stated that judicial authorities have imposed secrecy on the proceedings so details are scarce at this moment in time.

According to the digital newspaper Atlántico Hoy, some residents in the area are considering robbery as a possible motive for the incident, and the Guardia Civil are conducting the relevant police inquiries to ascertain the cause of death and identify any potential suspects.
