Cloudy conditions and rain showers are set to continue across the Canary Islands today, Wednesday, according to forecasts from State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), with rough seas also expected to worsen as the day goes on.

Skies will remain mostly cloudy, with light to moderate rainfall affecting many areas. Rain is forecast to be more persistent inland in the northern and higher ground of the islands, while southern areas are likely to see fewer and more isolated showers.

At sea, conditions will be challenging. Northeasterly winds of force 4 to 5 will dominate, bringing a moderate swell. A north or north-westerly swell of between 2 and 3 metres is expected during the day, increasing to 3 to 4 metres from nightfall, which could affect coastal activities and ferry services.

Meanwhile, the Tenerife Cabildo has activated a pre-alert ahead of an expected large influx of visitors to Mount Teide. Authorities are urging caution due to adverse weather conditions, strong winds at altitude and the possibility of frost on the summit.

Island-by-island forecast for Wednesday 17th December:
