A wet and windy start to December for much of the Canary Islands
December will get off to a blustery and unsettled start in the Canary Islands, with strong gusts and locally heavy rain expected early this Monday morning, before conditions ease later in the day, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Temperatures will remain fairly stable, though maximums may dip slightly in some areas. Moderate trade winds will strengthen at times, particularly over the mountains and on the southeast and northwest slopes of the islands.
At sea, winds from the north or northeast are expected to be force 4–6, with rough seas and a northwesterly swell of 1–2 metres.

TENERIFE
Cloudy in the north with heavier rain early, easing into scattered, lighter showers by afternoon. Elsewhere, cloudy intervals and possible brief showers, especially in mid-altitude areas. Moderate trade winds with stronger gusts in exposed areas; light breezes to the west.
Expected temperatures: Low of 18°C and a high of 23°C.
GRAN CANARIA
Cloudy in the north with more frequent and intense rain early on, becoming lighter and occasional after midday. Cloudy intervals elsewhere with the possibility of brief showers. Slight drop in daytime temperatures. Strong gusts are possible on the southeast and northwest slopes and high ground. Sea breezes in the southwest.
Expected temperatures: Low of 19°C and a high of 22°C.
LANZAROTE
Cloudy intervals with the chance of light, occasional showers early in the day. Temperatures are steady with a slight drop in maximums. Moderate trade winds, briefly strong midday.
Expected temperatures: Low of 17°C and a high of 22°C.
FUERTEVENTURA
Partly cloudy with a low chance of light showers early on, clearing later. Little temperature change. Moderate trade winds, occasionally strong.
Expected temperatures: Low of 17°C and a high of 22°C.
